5 tips for a natural instant energy boost

Why do we feel that we need an instant energy boost throughout the day?  Energy – is the most basic natural resource, but normally in the shortest supply. You don’t have to be suffering from chronic or incurable illnesses to have energy zapped from your being. Everyday life can deplete your energy levels dramatically.

Everyone would like to feel more energetic during the day. You naturally go through periods of higher activity which contrasts with times of relaxation. The problem occurs when more energy and concentration is required than we can give. Follow these invaluable tips to a new you and get that instant energy boost you need.

1. Oxygen.

Go outside. Shut your door. Close your eyes. And BREATHE. You will be amazed how 10 deep breaths will suddenly give your tired body and brain the energy boost it needs to see you through the rest of the day. The extra oxygen surges through your cells and plays a vital role in the metabolic systems of the body.

2. Water.

Drink more water and liquids. I know, everyone says to drink more, but most people are in a constant state of dehydration from filling up on coffee, tea, and energy drinks with caffeine. This is very stressful to the kidneys and can cause irritation to the bladder. Keep a sports bottle filled with water or your favourite flavour in water and keep it with you at all times. Set some goals throughout the day – empty by lunch, refill, empty again by the time work is over. Thirsty talking about it? – go and grab a drink

3. Move.

Go for a quick walk. Exercise is an instant energy creator. If you can’t go for a walk – move your body no matter how little. Stretch those relaxed muscles and let your cells start doing their job of converting nutrients and fat into energy. The nervous and endocrine systems in our bodies need stimulation to release endorphins – the feel good, energy boosting chemicals in our bodies. Cancer patients are told to walk every day as research shows that patients who take regular exercise improve how well they function physically and as well as improving their quality of life.

4. Sun.

Duck outside into the sun. Have the sun on your skin, within reason, for that instant energy boost and mood lift. Sunlight exposure releases a chemical in your brain called Serotonin which boosts a persons mood and helps them to regain focus. Moderation is the key, however. The World Health Organisation says 15 minutes of sunlight on your skin is enough to reap the benefits of this natural energy booster, helping you lead a fit healthy life.

5. Positive energy.

Build up your positive energy. Think positive, energising thoughts and block your mind to negative feelings or stressful situations.  For five minutes during your day, say to yourself “I feel energised’ ‘I have so much energy’ ‘life is wonderful’ it is amazing what this can do to your energy levels as well as your mindset. Try laughter therapy – it is amazing how it catches on and gives you an instant energy boost.

And if that isn’t enough – give yourself a quick massage of the eyes or between the thumb and index finger of each hand.  These are acupressure points and are sure to bring you a wonderful feeling of calm as well as release energy into your body.
